Interview with Sophia Sama of Blood Stain Child

Blood Stain Child is a Japanese, melodic death metal band from the city of Osaka. The band formed under the name VISIONQUEST in 1999 but later renamed itself to Blood Stain Child in 2000. Their unique style of music combines a variety of heavy metal elements such as melodic death metal, melodic black metal and power metal. A stand-out feature of Blood Stain Child is their tendency to incorporate both dance and trance related themes into their music. Read more

Mikoshi-nyudo

 

Mikoshi-nyudo is a monk-like creature that grows taller the more you look at it

 

 

It is found in the  Kaibutsu Ehon (“Illustrated Book of Monsters”) published in 1881. It features woodblock prints of yokai, or monsters from Japanese folklore. Illustrated by painter Nabeta Gyokuei, the book is modeled after the influential works of Toriyama Sekien, an 18th-century scholar and ukiyo-e artist known for his attempt to catalog the many species of yokai in Japan.

Amazing robot arm picks up and puts down semi-liquids without smearing!

 

SWITL — a robot hand developed by factory equipment manufacturer Furukawa Kikou, picks up deposits of gels, sauces and other soft semi-liquids without smearing them or altering their shape. In this demo it scoops up Mayonnaise and Ketchup.
