My name is Natalia but everybody calls me Naty. I am also known as NaTyMeTaL. I am from Costa Rica and I love Graphic Design. I am the owner of Gorgeous Freaks, an alternative modeling agency around the world that I created 3 years ago with my sis Yaz and we started a magazine and store (november of 2011) with the same name.

I am a friendly and sweet girl. I love Metal music, it’s my passion, I love promoting bands and stuff like that, I’m always supporting the metal scene

Metal and body modification are my life. Since I was a little girl I have been around the metal scene because of my dad and when I got my first tattoo and piercing, he was the one that took me to get them haha. He also has some and he’s a metalhead too so i love going to gigs with him and my sis.

With my magazine (Gorgeous Freaks Magazine) we support and promote the alternative industry, so we feature bands, models, photographers, designers, tattoo artist, body mod artists, etc, so feel free to check out my magazine

Also I love going to gigs, parties, hanging out with my friends, editing pics, listening to music, and eating. I love piercings (I have my nose, lip pierced and both ears with 2g (6mm)) and tattoos a lot. Right now I have 6 tattoos and I am planning on getting more soon. I plan on finishing my half sleeves first. Tattoos are, for me, a way to express myself and to tell a story with stuffs that I love the most in life that really mean something to me. I also enjoy photography and modeling.

I started modeling in 2008 and I have appeared in several magazines, ezines, T-Shirt Companies, Bands (as a merch model, appearing in promotional photos and interviews etc.).

Naty, it is a pleasure to meet you. You mentioned that your dad was into metal and took you to get your first tattoos. Can you tell us what it was and what the experience was like?

Nice to meet you too, hehe yeah, well i got my first tattoo at the age of 14-15, i got angel wings on my back ^^ my dad also that day got tattooed in his arm and my sis too. It was awesome to share that experience with your family, we always have been close, music and art get us together, now we are also making a band, he’s teaching me to play guitar

Your tattoos have meaning to you. What are some of them and what are the meanings behind them?

Yeah they do, i love them, i support art. I have 6 tattoos for now but i wanna get more soon, in my right leg i have a skull candy, with some cupackes and candies, i havent got it finished yet hehe, but i got it because it represents my life, that’s why i also got tattooed next to the skull this phrase “sweet life”, i always try to keep a sweet life no matter what problems come in my way, i am always positive, so i wanted a happy and sweet skull ^^ Then i have 2 angel wings, it’s a part of me when i think about freedom, thankfully my mom and dad have been very open with me so they let me do whatever makes me happy and they support me. I have a bloody pentagram on my left scapula, i like the meaning of what the pentagram represents in the pagan history, about the 5-points of it ^^ I have in my left arm a dead swallow, i got it in a tattoo convention, i love old skull tattoo art ^^, and finally in my right arm i have a cartoon of me with a zombie cupcake and candies, i am candyholic haha and i love zombies a lot and horror stuffs ^^ And i wanted a cartoon of me in a chibbi way because i love the chibbi drawing style and in a future i want ppl to remember who i was and what i look like, i am proud of what i am

You have been modeling for awhile now. What is it you enjoy about modeling?

Yeah since 2008, i like being in front of the camera and express myself through photos, i like putting my crazy and random ideas of what i love in life in just one photo, i love doing all kinds of shoots but i prefer gore, bloody, dark, photos with a theme, and it just feels nice and fun to do shoots and show the world your work ^^

What are some of your favorite photoshoots?

Mmm that’s difficult to choose, but i had a shoot in a forest with a friend of mine that is a professional photographer, Migue Zuñiga, he’s amazing, and the photos and the place turn out great, i really enjoy nature, also some photos that i have done with the help of my sis, i am proud of how they look and the reaction of people, like the shoot for hellmaidens or twisted angel.

What is the modeling industry like in Costa Rica especially for alternative models?

Well it’s pretty small, i only know like 2 serious alternative models here lol, people here dont support it sometimes, because they are used to commercial and boring modeling lol

And well we don’t count with agencies that will like to work with us alt models, they think alt modeling it’s a joke and some of the agencies already have that stupid requirements about weight and height that i found very lame, because in alternative modeling, requirements dont exist, you can look or dress whatever you like that nobody will tell you that it’s incorrect, you can be who you are, so yeah the modeling industry here is lead by commercial modeling ony, sad but true.

Are there any models or photographers you admire or that you would like to work with in the future?

Yeah, about photographers, i love Nea Bristol and Peter Beste, i love his work a lot.

And about models i wanna work with Joan V, Razor Candi, Lilith Ave Satanas, Amelia Dinmore, Rifka, Diva Satanica and a lot more ^^

You started Gorgeous Freaks Magazine with your sister. Can you tell us a little about the magazine?

Well our magazine is about the Alternative Industry, we featured bands, photographers, models, artists, make up artists, designers, tattoo artists, body mod artists, ect, we are a very open minded magazine, so we like giving everybody a change to show their work out there so people can appreciate it ^^

What do you hope readers will get out of it?

Well i hope they have an open mind so they can appreciate it art in anyway, the alternative industry needs the support of more people, so only if they like it they will understand our magazine and hopefully if they dont, with out magazine they can learn more about it

There are two covers. A male and a female cover. Why did you choose to do two?

Well we always have seen female covers everywhere in every magazine you can find, even if it’s alternative, many magazines only featured females on the cover, and we support both sides, we wanna give guy models a chance for people to see them and admire their work too, because we all need to be united and we don’t wanna leave anyone out, so that’s why we decided to make 2 covers in every issue^^

You are also a designer. Did you design the magazine layout as well?

Yeah i do, along with my sis we design everything you see inside of the magazine, all the layouts and colors and all of that, we made them ^^

How would you describe your style?

Well i dont know, i mix a lot of things in one haha, i love metal a lot so a part of me you can see some metal influences, also in the other side i like horror punk, but i dont have a definite style, i just wear what i like in that moment

Gorgeous Freaks is also a modeling agency. How many models do you have signed and what kind of events do you cover?

Oh well we have in total like 229 models right now, we are just an online agency, so we try promoting them in our page by making them an album with their portfolio.

I am sure you and your sister have big plans for your business. Where do you hope to take it in the future?

Well we hope to continue with our magazine and to also travel around the word to work as a models or to work with our magazine too, also we wanna open our own store soon and maybe with a tattoo shop in it ^^

You work closely with your sister, Yaz. Do you two get along well?

Yeah we do, we have been very close, so we always work together in everything, we help each other a lot ^^

Talk to us a little about your love for music. What are you listening to lately?

Well i am a huge metal fans, metal is my lifestyle, so right now i am listening to enslaved, i love bands like Graveworm, Onslaught, Catamenia, Satyricon, Agathodaimon, Siebenburgen, Hermh, Inactive Messiah, Dragonlord, Sybreed, Aborym, Shade Empire and a lot more, but i also like other music genres like horror punk, psycobilly, punk, new wave, industrial, oi ^^

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love going to gigs, take pics, play with my dogs, hang out with my friends, edit pics, listen music, eat, sleep lol .
