Interview with Elissa Yang

Hi I’m known as Miss Panda but prefer to be called Elissa Yang. I’ve been an aspiring model for about two and a half years, whenever I can squeeze in a shoot in-between school and work. I love modeling for several reasons: the challenges of being my own manager, accountant, booking agent, wardrobe stylist as well as makeup artist. I love modeling because it is a great creative outlet for me. I’m currently a college student one year away from my AA. I hope you enjoy my feature and hopefully get to know more about me.

Can you tell us a little about where you grew up and what you were like as a child?

When i was a child I was curious about everything and wanted to explore everything out there since I was really restricted.

Was modeling something you always wanted to do when you were younger?

well, Yes, when I saw my first Victoria Secret fashion show I fell in love and ever since its been my goal.

How did you get your first modeling assignment? What was it like? Were you nervous?

It took me a long time since I managed myself and I had to self teach myself about everything. Model Mayhem helped a lot!

What types of modeling styles do you enjoy doing the most?

I love to do fashion and fun shoots because its more like me and my personality.

Are there any models, photographers that you admire.or inspire you?

I love Adriana Lima and Alex Lim’s work. He’s a local photographer in Seattle.

What is it you enjoy about modeling?

i love everything about modeling. It’s challenging and hard but I love it because its a great creative outlet for me. It’s my happy place.

Have there been any shoots that have been difficult? Any embarrassing moments you would like to share with us?

haha. I started my period once while I was shooting, lol. I personally love difficult shoots because I love a challenge.

How closely do you work with the photographers, MUA and stylists?

If I really like the art we create I mainly have one photographer I work with, Brett Fish.

What do you think is your best asset and your worst?

My best assets are my legs and my smile. Not to be conceited but I love every part of me.

Were there any tips you received that made an impression on what you needed to do to become successful?

Yes. that I should avoid the glamour scene since my body is made more for the fashion industry.

Is there anything that you haven’t accomplished that you would like to?

Yes there are many things I want to accomplish and haven’t, like being in tuner magazines and traveling the world for shoots.

Are you working on any projects lately?

I am actually working on my website and possible clothing line as well as entry into Maxim Home Town Hottie.

What are the things you love to do when you’re not “at work”?

I love arts and crafts, and music or I would be dancing

What is your most prized possession?

My most prized possession? I have none. I try and not be materialistic

Who is the person, alive or dead, you most admire?

I admire the Dali Llama. He’s so inspirational and his quotes on fb keep me in touch with reality.

What is your biggest regret?

My biggest regret is not continuing ballet which was my passion when I was little. I was one year away from going pro at the NW Pacific Ballet.

What qualities do you most dislike in women?

I dislike women who are full of themselves and automatically think they’re better than you or just a B!

If you could come back after death, what would you be?

I would be an eagle and go flying around the world being free to explore.

What would you be if you could pick a new career?

I would be a doctor to help people which is my passion.

Any advice for “New Faces”?

Be original, and be you. Don’t try be someone you’re not and never let it get to your head because you as a person will effect your career. Do this for the right reasons and not for the attention or money but because you really enjoy what you do because in the end theres thousands of other girls who are going after the same thing you are.
